Safeguarding Webinars

Level 3 Safeguarding Webinars

GPNI in Partnership with a number of Safeguarding Leads have developed a series of safeguarding webinars covering topics including domestic violence, adult safeguarding and sexual exploitation. These sessions are designed to provide level 3 training during the course of the COVID-19 pandemic and is open to all the practice team. We are looking to refresh and update these resources for 22/23 – we would welcome any feedback on positives and negatives of this resource.

The first in the series of webinars is linked below and Dr Naoimh White (GP) leads this 1.5 hour webinar alongside a social work colleague.

It is practical and relevant to GPs and their teams eg. maintaining accurate child protection register, case conference input, dealing with a safeguarding concern.

Further Safeguarding Webinars

ADULT SAFEGUARDING

The session will cover recognising possible abuse, how to respond and highlight the support available in the community. In particular we hope to address where Adult safeguarding differs from Children’s safeguarding.  Reviewing responsibilities for specific groups – LD, adult mental illness, elderly, dementia, care home residents and looking at the practicalities such as referral pathways.

SAFEGUARDING YOUNG PEOPLE

The session is led by Dr Mary Larkin a GP Partner with a special interest in Safeguarding and Ms Charmaine McNally a Social Worker Primary Care Lead in Derry MDT with a special interest in childhood sexual exploitation.

DOMESTIC ABUSE – THE HIDDEN IMPACT OF THE PANDEMIC

The session covers  recognising possible abuse, how to respond and highlight the support available in the community. It is led by Dr Mary Larkin,  a GP with a special interest in this area of safeguarding. She will be joined by a Social Work colleague and together they will discuss the extent of the problem in Northern Ireland.
