A new pilot mental health service for university students (SMHS) has been set up by the Belfast HSC Trust in conjunction with Ulster University and Queen’s University, Belfast. It is a service for students who:
- Are attending Ulster University or Queen’s University ( it does not include the teacher training colleges at this stage).
- Need to be seen by secondary care mental health services
- Are resident or partially resident in the Belfast Trust catchment area
- GPs from any part of Northern Ireland can refer to the Student Mental Health Service.
The referral details of suitability of a student and how to refer are outlined in the attached Pilot SMHS Information sheet for GPs.
The SMHS can not provide an Autism diagnosis but will see those students with autism who have a co-morbid mental illness.
Please contact the SMHS Team Leader at 07716700091 if you need any further information
