Clinically Extremely Vulnerable People
The recent identification of the new, more transmissible variant of the virus, coupled with the increasing pressures on HSC services, it has been agreed that it is appropriate now to change the advice re: attending the workplace. The new advice is that Clinically Extremely Vulnerable people should work from home if possible, but if they are unable to do so they are advised not to attend the workplace. The Chief Medical Officer will write to Clinically Extremely Vulnerable people to advise of this change. Anyone who cannot attend work due to this advice will be eligible for Statutory Sick Pay, and can use the CMO letter as evidence for their employer as was the case when shielding was introduced at the at the start of the pandemic. Pending receipt of the new letter, people can use their original letters as evidence.
